It’s been a funny sort of day. I’ve had two rejection letters for Greaveburn this morning. Both are quite complementary. Apparently the opening chapters are ‘interesting’ and one even mentioned a ‘good style’. However, neither company felt strongly enough that they were willing to follow it up.
This makes me wonder a few things.
1. Are the opening chapters (and the rest by extension) good but not quite good enough?
2. Is the cross-genre too odd to be marketable?
3. Does it suck harder than my Granny on a Worther’s Original?
Interesting concepts. Basically, it’s out there now, so there isn’t much I can do. I think the plan is to wait for the rest to return, then do some tweaking and try again.
In other news, my previous post ‘What is YA?’ has generated quite a few hits and even a comment. I thought it would anger YA authors, actually, but apparently not. Not yet, anyway 🙂
Oh, and Not Before Bed has been rendered FREE on Smashwords. So, if you previously took a look but didn’t fancy the price tag, now is the time!
Hopefully I’ll have better news for you all next time!
Thanks for reading!
